Revitalized

It’s been about sixteen years. Sixteen years since the Holy Spirit really surprised us with the call to homeschool.

At the time, I did not know a single other homeschooling family, and it would be well over a year before I would meet even one.

We were walking blindly towards an unfamiliar lifestyle that we knew nothing about.

Little did I know how much joy it would bring me.
Little did I know how hard it would be.
Little did I know how it would help me to grow in faith, closer to God.

Now, all praise be to God, we are blessed by many wonderful homeschooling families who encourage and support us daily.

That being said, I still need deep encouragement in my vocation of homeschooling.

It was at dinner one night that I discovered that a friend of mine was also seeking nourishment. After searching locally for a retreat that would bring her heart the rest it needed in her vocation as a homeschooling mom, she found none. She considered flying across the country in search of this type of support.

It was from that dinner conversation that Revitalize was born. This retreat for homeschooling moms will take place on October 7-9, 2022 at the Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center in Federal Way, Washington.

The mission of Sanctus is to live as urban missionary disciples in four ways . . .

  1. Building community. This retreat will help Catholic homeschooling moms in the Seattle area to strengthen friendships with other moms called to the same vocation, and to form new ones.

  2. Nourishing discipleship. This retreat will create opportunities for homeschooling moms to encounter Jesus within their hearts and grow in their friendship with Him.

  3. Serving those in need. This retreat will serve Catholic homeschooling moms, women who have given their entire lives to raising their children in the faith, building God’s kingdom.

  4. Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. This retreat will send moms home with a deeper sense of peace and rest, and with hearts better dispositioned to live out the Gospel in their homes, in their communities, and in the world.

And so, my prayer for you is that truth will bring prayer in our homes, and from the foot of prayer will be that we believe that in the poor it is Christ. And we will really believe, we will begin to love. And we will love naturally, we will try to do something. First in our own home, next door neighbor in the country we live, in the whole world.” - Mother Teresa of Calcutta
